the property is wonderfully charming, the staff are friendly and attentive, the food could not have been better. We had dinner in the bar, and the breakfast service the next day, and both were just superb.
We upgraded to a tower room, and it was spacious and full of thoughtful details, like a hidden passage behind a book shelf to the toilet/powder room. It was a treat to get a modern day castle experience.
The bed was incredibly comfortable, the wifi was excellent….and overall we were very happy with the experience.
This property is not recommended to anyone with mobility issues as its many stairs, passageways and uneven floors you have to carry your luggage through to get to your room. There are cottages in the courtyard that are more accessible, but accessing anything else on the property would be quite challenging.
The room was very luxuriously fitted in the 1980s or 90s when it was likely last updated…faded /worn fabrics, red rumpled carpet and stained walls in the washroom, It looks quite tired, and could benefit from a refurbishment but was clean and perfectly comfortable. It was superbly quiet, and we had an excellent sleep
We loved seeing Poppet and the cozy fireplaces in the lounge were so inviting…loads of charming details all over the property. It was fun to explore and quite the adventure just locating our room
