"The Islander Hotel & Resort was very clean, but unfortunately we experienced several issues during our 3-day stay, which was our first time visiting.
One of the biggest concerns was the front desk staff member, Marty, who was consistently rude and disrespectful during multiple interactions. In a customer-facing role, better communication skills and a more welcoming attitude are expected.
At check-in, we were informed *after paying* that there would be no housekeeping services during our stay due to staffing shortages. This should have been disclosed ahead of time, as we likely would have chosen a different hotel. Being on vacation, we shouldn’t have to clean our own room, which ended up being the case. This was very disappointing.
We also had an issue regarding the pool. One evening, we called the front desk about the lack of pool lights. The employee who answered (she did not give her name) told us there were no pool lights and that the pool was closed. We later found out both statements were untrue—the pool does have lighting and remains open until 10 PM. Because of this misinformation, our family missed out on enjoying the pool for two nights.
Additionally, we were told we had to go to the front desk to pick up extra towels and trash bags ourselves due to staffing shortages, which was inconvenient.
Overall, while the property itself was clean, the lack of transparency, poor service, and inconvenience significantly impacted our experience. Given these issues, we do not"
