“The property is beautiful and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast at 1853 is exceptional, so many options! Staying at this hotel is a great experience”

“Really nice property in quiet location. Food was great”

“합리적 현대적 교통편리성 만족”

“All was ok, room, cleanliness, amenities and breakfast. Comfy bed and pillows. Some very friendly staff, others not as engaged. Only criticism would be parking that we didn't realise would cost extra. It was £3.50 for overnight stay.”

“Stayed for 1 night with family during trip to Bristol. May stay again, will just avoid having dinner there. Positives: Staff really nice, friendly and helpful. Great buffet breakfast, varied selection - cooked breakfast, pastries, cereals, fruits, yogurts, pancakes ("make your own pancakes" machine was entertaining!). Swimming pool good size for a hotel, well maintained and water pleasantly warm. Good location, close to local attractions and easy drive to central Bristol. Main negative -...

“Hotel from hell, all Night and all morning mysterious banging from all parts of hotel. Creaking banging all hours of the night. Couldn’t sleep”

“Room not aging well. Stained carpet. Bed linen clean. Towels clean. Shower ok.”

“Due to age of building plus isolation it had some unique qualities but the staff were all lovely and the stay was enjoyable.”

“Staff both on reception and in the dining room were helpful, although at dinner we had to wait a long time before the food arrived. The main problem was that although the hotel wasn’t fully booked we were given a room (room 7) right on the very noisy road, over the bar and the outdoor festoon lights were on all night which filtered into the room. Had we stayed a second night we would have asked to be moved!”

“We had a great one night stay at Berwick Lodge on a a Monday to celebrate a birthday. The sun shone and the Housemartins flew happily around whilst we sat on the terrace having a cocktail. The à la carte menu was fantastic - well worth the cost and breakfast was very tasty. Will definitely stay again in one of the other fantastic looking rooms.”

“The chairs are filthy, the handle was hanging off the bathroom door which was the size of a small broom cupboard and the walls don't reach the ceiling. It's a small bedsit which you get to up a fire escape. No idea how it gets such good reviews. Also the radiator didn't work and the WiFi gave up part way through our stay and the TV stopped working. Sometimes we could here what next door guests were saying word for word! Only positives were the nice water and juice and Bed was ok. Pretty grim...

“Wonderful accommodations in a most beautiful part of our world. The building is very old and this is not perfect. For us it was perfect. An excellent breakfast each morning and dinner and pints in the evening. Plenty to see nearby. We look forward to visiting again.”
