"Room could use some better cleaning and maintenance. The couch had stains, hair in the shower. Overall nice grounds. Could use more pool seats and to fix the ones there"
"Very unique property. The lobby, bar, casino, market, restaurant were very nice. The outside pond with geese and ducks were beautiful. The only thing that needs upgrading are the rooms. The hotel is close enough to Death Valley so you don’t have to spend a fortune to stay inside the park."
"We booked this place based on some "excellent" reviews and "good" ratings.
Upon arrival we were shockingly surprised by the dilapidated state of the building and its surroundings, which rather fits the description of a ghost town in the middle of nowhere.
Reluctantly we stepped in the lobby to be received by a wave of stagnant air, as if no one had opened the door in a hundred years. Not to mention the adverse respiratory reaction this unhealthy atmosphere triggered on my travel partner.
The front desk lady was nice and sweet. Since we quickly realized that we were not going to spend a single night in such a filthy and dilapidated place, we thanked her for sharing some haunting stories about the place's famous guest, and left. Leaving behind a cloud of dust never to look back again...
We are aware that not all travelers are looking for the same kind of experience, but it is beyond my comprehension how a place that lacks some basic amenities and is in such a state of disrepair can be even listed as a lodging option.
Needless to say that our trust on Expedia as a travel advisor has been very disappointing by this experience to say the least.

The cracks and rifts in the valley, along with the rocky bridge that passes overhead, give a window into the fascinating geological history of Death Valley.
An awe-inspiring panorama of the foothills and gullies of the Black Mountains unfolds from this elevated viewpoint, where you’ll find a series of hiking trails.
One of Death Valley’s most popular hiking trails winds through gorges, around cliffs and within canyons, showcasing all the different aspects of the area’s unique geology.
