“Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side. The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet. “This is an old interesting building so you have to take that into consideration, Room was clean, staff very helpful, food very good . Parking is not a problem but be careful of the access. All in all an enjoyable stay, recommended.”

“Great atmosphere Helpful Staff”

“Really comfortable, quiet and clean bedroom, the bathroom was on the small side and not as nice as the rest of the room (still nice enough). The staff were friendly but seemed very busy so they just gave us the key and pointed us in the direction of the outbuiling where our bedroom was located. If you have heavy luggage or struggle with stairs our room would not be for you as there were some very steep stairs.”

“We have stayed here three times now & love the friendly homely atmosphere. The apartment is perfect for me & my son and he loves the swimming pool! The gym has plenty of equipment & my treadmill faces a field of cows & the odd pig which was lovely! Will definitely be staying again”

“It is a wonderful place. It is a place with a feeling of an old home in England. English style breakfast is great”

“On arrival we were greeted with a bottle of wine biscuits and a bottle of milk which was a lovely touch. It is a lovely place to stay and would have no problem booking again.”

“My wife and I had a fabulous 2 night stay. Our room was lovely, staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was first class. The bar was a lovely place to relax after a long day walking. We would definitely return for another visit. I have only one observation to feedback, and its minor. The decor in our bathroom was tired and needs looking at. The bathroom was clean and tidy, but paint work and fixtures were beginning to show their age.”

“I enjoy my stay at the Golden Lion. The food is good and the staff are helpful. The room was clean but found the ensuite rather tight for space especially with the step to the shower.”

“A1. Very good.”
