Helix Hotel June 2022
Good sized clean modern room and comfy bed. Plenty of free car parking on street outside. Room reasonably priced too. Only downside for me was no air con or fans in room which didn’t help when I stayed on one of the hottest nights of the year but don’t let this put you off. Good value for the money paid especially last minute :) would still use again.

Disappointing - needs a lot of work
No bar or restaurant open with no prior notice from the Hotel. Very poorly decorated, shower tray overflowed into bathroom floor. Not sure how this hotel scored 8.2 in it current state!

No bar or restaurant as advertised, poor location in residential area. However the room was clean and comfortable.

Very Uncomfortable Bed
Check in was great, friendly staff. However the bed was one of the most uncomfortable mattress’ I’ve ever slept on. Well by it’s date, basically a bag of springs. My back is still hurting. Place was immaculately clean and free parking was a bonus. No chef was available so no onsite eating but shops were local enough.

Chilled couple of days away
We booked this hotel as it was near the places we wanted to go and see, it was a very quiet and friendly hotel. The staff were amazing and the room was clean and spacious. The bed was so comfy I could have fallen asleep for days 😴

A real gem.
This hotel is a hidden gem, do not be put off staying here by the address. It is very comfortable and friendly, the staff are great. We would happily stay here again !

Dreadful
Stay clear it’s like a deserted block of flats in an awful area I didn’t stay I left ! Parking is on a council estate block of run down flats definitely not secure I refused to leave my vehicle here as it didn’t feel safe Arrived hotel in deserted in darkness all locked up at 1.30pm had to wait for reception to open at 5.30pm ! No chance I left and went to grange manor !!!!!

We are very sorry you didn't feel safe staying with us. You booked during a global pandemic and were informed in advance that our reception desk didn't open until 5:30pm also it is clearly stated on your booking engine that due to Corona virus our reception desk hours have changed temporarily like most businesses. It also states on the booking engine that parking in on street parking. However you did not stay which is why you were not charged and we waived the cancellation fee.

Emma on the front desk is lovely and very welcoming. My room was spotless and the decor was modern as per the website. Due to COVID the hotel is not doing breakfasts but are providing pack lunches. I have dietary requirements so it was really good when Scott the chef came out to meet me and discuss what I could have. My pack lunches thereafter were the envy of my training colleagues who were staying at other hotels. The only negative about this hotel is the outside of it which needs to be updated but once through the front door a warm welcome awaits.

Superb hotel
Great place staff were the best. Covenantally located foe side trips and easy access to trains to head to Edinburgh. Great food/breakfast. Highly recommended this place to anyone traveling in Scotland

Very easy to find from airport and access to various sites. The rooms clean though basic, lacking mirror in bedroom, chair or small sofa to relax, noticed no hairdryer. Breakfast excellent and staff very helpful. If you stayed one night has everything you need but longer it would be nice to have the extra touches but overall very good.

Super hotel - dont be put off by the outside.
A great stay. The hotel looks basic from the outside, but it is clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent and most helpful throughout the stay.
