“Lovely old building, good location exceptional breakfast. Parking is a bit of a nightmare after a 10 point turn in the car park had to find parking across the road which was no problem for my little car but you might struggle with a bigger car.”

“We stayed in an Executive run which was well maintained and spacious if a little dated. Bathroom had been updated but corners had been cut like an old siding on the bath. Air con worked well and the room was quiet overnight. Breakfast wasn’t great. Limited choices and the eggs were terrible both scrambled and fried, but it was only £10 each. The place is a joy to stay at set in a beautiful area, well located to amenities, very quiet, no noise or hassle from owners, well equipped internally, good internet, easy parking, comfy bed, great kitchen and bathroom and great value for money. “We had a lovely stay. Our room was perfect for us….lovely comfy bed and a small courtyard where we had dinner delivered! We were lucky that the weather was very warm too. Our dogs were very happy and calm and safe there . I would happily recommend this room (2) for anyone travelling with dogs. Thank you Wynnstay and staff, you made our trip really comfortable.”

“Location is great. Hote Is basic as reflected in price as well as reviews. Restaurant at hotel was terribly understaffed - only one chef. Took an hour and 20 mins for food to arrive. Secondly, there was no daily cleaning or towel change and was not mentioned clearly.”

“Liked the garden, but it needs a little C&A... Disabled car parking near to our room (No.5) was an excellent bonus. Breakfast was excellent but a bit expensive. Staff were all very courtious and helpful. Direct booking rather than via an agency is preferred. We will certainly be recomending the Lion to our friends and relations and using you again next time we are in the area. “Extremely spacious and well equipped with one exception, given the unusually warm weather—no AC, some fans, and no screens on windows that do open. The garden has a knockout location right on the river and some rooms also have this gorgeous view, including the huge bathroom with freestanding tub. There are however a lot of stairs. Kitchen is on lowest floor. Entry and dining and parlor are on street level, and there is no bathroom on that floor. So it’s a trek from kitchen to loo. The top floor...

“Old hotel but had everything you need x right in the centre of town too”

“We had the perfect stay. The Owls Nest was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. From the comfy bed, hot tub and the Webber bbq all made it so relaxing. Dog friendly which was a bonus. Jenny & Margaret were great hosts. We appreciated the special touches. We had such a lovely time that booked to go again before we left. Highly recommended.”
