마추픽추 마을 최악의 호텔, 아니 모텔
마추픽추 마을은 마추픽추로 올라가는 버스를 타기 위해 머무르는 작은 마을이다. 하루 잠깐 쉬어가기 위해 경제적인 Gringo Bill's Hotel을 선택했지만 결과는 최악이었다. 구석진 곳에 위치한 이 호텔은 굉장히 낡은 건물에 내부는 미로와도 같이 복잡하게 배치되어 있다. 4층 건물이지만 엘레베이터가 없다. 프런트의 직원은 굉장히 느리고 더블베드와 트위베드를 구분하지 못한다. 방 내부 역시 굉장히 낡았고 청결하지 못하다. 창문은 잠금장치가 없다. 일부 친절한 직원도 있지만 이미 기분은 좋지 않으 상태였다. 마추픽추를 올라가기 전 충분한 충전의 하루를 보내고 싶다면 추천하지 않는다.

The man at the check-in desk was extremely helpful! As soon as I arrived, he automatically notified me that my tour guide for the following day's events had called for me, calling him back so I could speak with him. I definitely appreciate that he remembered to do so. The property itself was unique, very cute! The breakfast area was very nice as well. Great location.. train station, shops, and restaurants were all within a short walking distance. Overall I'd stay here again!

This hotel was truly unique! We had a very clean room with a balcony. Breakfast was great and I loved the open air walkways. If you're going to Machu Picchu, definitely stay here!

I regret to share that our stay at this hotel was a complete disappointment. The entire place seemed neglected and almost abandoned. Our room, located on the last floor, required navigating through abandoned rooms, creating an unsettling atmosphere. The interior design was outdated, smelly, dirty, and full of broken elements. The abundance of windows and door windows made the room feel unsafe, attracting numerous insects. The supposed amazing view was marred by an abandoned building with an individual overlooking our room and a neglected structure on the right side, uncomfortably close to our balcony. The experience was so distressing that we couldn't sleep at all, and we were relieved to have an early wake-up at 4 am the next day. This hotel desperately needs a thorough cleaning, a significant renovation, and an improved security system. Until these issues are addressed, I strongly advise against staying here. It would be in the best interest of everyone if they considered temporarily closing for the necessary improvements.

Gringo Bills has a central location near the plaza and friendly staff. The property unfortunately is in poor shape. The elevator broken, no functioning pool/spa as advertised, loose electric wires in the bathroom and poorly fitted doors/windows resulting in 1000s of flying insects in the room. Thankfully we had only one night here and they allowed us to store our bags while we visited Machu Pichu.

Gringo Bills served our purpose. We arrived in Agues Caliente a day prior to our hike to Machu Picchu. For one night the hotel met our need. The staff was friendly and personable during the stay. The room was clean. Based on reviews the hotel did not exactly match and was not what I expected. It is very very dated and needs a lot of updates. The remote was missing in our room and when attempted to ring front desk, the phone was not working properly. The front desk clerk was kind enough to meet me halfway because there are ALOT of steps. But that’s just Peru in general 😊. The rep informed us that none of the TV’s on our row were working :( disappointing but okay. We had a early time for the mountain. The tile in the bathroom gets very slippery so care is necessary when entering and exiting from the shower and room in general there is only one small rug in front of shower. The noise at night between tipsy tourist and someone filling the hot tub with energetic children in the center of the hotel is a bit disruptive but folks are vacationing so not hotels fault. Overall, if you are looking for a clean, very basic hotel room for a short stay this hotel will do. It is less than 2 min walk to buses to Machu Picchu and Hot Springs! The location cannot be beat hands down!

Shower is not properly sealed, so you basically have a flooded bathroom once you finish taking a shower. Room is filled with mosquitoes, bathroom window was wide-open, no screen, and room and bathroom had insects all over the ceiling. Shower was not properly cleaned, there was floss on the floor from some previous guest. And, we were placed on the 5th floor, elevator not working, and the staff person did not even offer to help carry any bag. But if you like hotel rooms that smell damp like some abandoned warehouse, walking on a wet bathroom floor, being bitten by mosquitoes, finding hairs from who knows on the nightstand, and paying a disproportionate fee for what you are getting, then you might like the hotel.

En general fue bueno, destaco el servicio de la señora de los desayunos, pero la persona del check IN, se le pidió revisar la televisión y nunca subió pese a que se le hizo varios llamados, la piscina y Jacuzzi que aparecen realmente están sucios e inutilizables, pues están al aire libre sin mantenimiento, al momento del check out querían cobrar un impuesto, que si no reclamamos, nos lo cobran.

The staff was nice but the reason I chose this hotel was for the pool which was in disrepair. The bathroom in the room was open at the top so it was difficult to contain bathroom odors. The shower was also open at the top adding to the humidity of the room. There was heat for the cold but no AC or fan for the heat. Nice balcony and great water pressure. I feel I paid way too much however.

Overall we had an excellent experience at this hotel. However, at check-in there was a confusion as to whether the room booked had been previously paid (It had been). Nevertheless I had to produce my credit card and pay again. Then after logging to the internet I was able to double-check with Expedia and my bank and showed receipts to management. They quickly cancelled the new transaction and refunded me the money. They apologized. No harm done I said and accepted their apology. We stayed three nights. Loved the place and the location

Some of the hotel is still under construction and the elevator did not work the entire length of the stay. As far as I could see the restaurant was only open in the mornings for breakfast. Pool and hot tub were uncovered, but not open might have been the time of year (August). Staff was pleasant, rooms were clean, breakfast was basic but hit the spot. Wifi was spotty in one of the kids rooms and batteries should be checked in the tv remotes we went out and bought some for our room.

El hotel cumplió con las expectativas, lo usamos para descansar después del viaje desde Lima, el baño limpio y las camas cómodas, en general el hotel bien. Mención especial a su personal que fueron muy amables y nos recogieron en la estación del tren y nos dieron recomendaciones para hacer el recorrido por Machupichu y cuando regresamos nos recomendaron donde cenar. This hotel is not even open. It is in shambles like it’s under construction or something. No one was there, here wasn’t even a front desk to talk to anyone. It’s pretty much an abandoned building.

Even though I was able to book the hotel, receive confirmation from EXPEDIA and decided to pay the extra $ fees for welcome drink and breakfast. When we arrived at 7pm tired, hungry and looking forward for our room to rest. The hotel was under construction and in shambles when we arrived. It was night time and now we had nowhere to sleep and had to scramble to find a place to connect on wifi to find a different accommodation and try and have expedia resolve this issue. Once I decided to call them and pay out of pocket for the ONE HOUR phone call the problem was solved but it shouldn't have happened to begin with and even less taken that long to resolve!!!!
