The staff is very professional. We had a hostess (Takahashi-san) assigned to us. She was very attentive and took care of everything for us. The room was very spacious. We had a private open air onsen bath tub. The meals were great. We highly recommend it.

Disappointing Ryokan experience
Altogether the remote location from the town center, difficult communication due to the language barrier not sufficiently overcomed by Google translator as well as a rudimentary private onsen setting contributed to a really disappointing Ryokan experience with respect to our expectations.

โรงแรมสวยมาก ห้องพักตบแต่งสวยงาม กว้างขวาง มีความเป็นส่วนตัวดีมาก พนักงานบริการได้อย่างยอดเยี่ยม โดยเฉพาะพนักงานเช็คอินและพนักงานเสริฟอาหารเย็น ขอชมเชมอาหารเย็น เป็นสไตล์ญี่ปุ่นแบบเก่า ทำได้ดีและอร่อยมากที่สุดที่เคยทานมา รู้สึกประทับใจมาก ๆ ห้องออนเซน กว้างขวาง สวยงาม มีเลือกหลายแบบ แขกไม่เยอะ ทำให้รู้สึกเหมือนเป็นที่พักส่วนตัวเลยทีเดียว มีสิ่งที่ต้องขอให้ปรับปรุงเล็กน้อยคือ ผ้าม่านบังแสงควรจะมีให้ครบทุกหน้าต่าง ตอนเช้าแสงจะไม่รบกวนแขก ตอนที่พักอยู่พระอาทิตย์ขึ้นตอนก่อนตีห้า ทำให้พักผ่อนไม่เต็มที่

This is an outstanding deluxe property with top notch English speaking staff. I cannot say enough about how attentive and helpful the staff at this first class accommodation was for our group. The food here is also awesome. Kaiseki dinners were elegant and delicious. Breakfasts were also traditional yet memorable. My travel companions were in such awe of the food and its presentation that there was sparse conversation as everyone was mesmerized by each course.

Great hotel, Not enough flexibility
The hotel is beautiful and had a lot of luxurious touches. The staff was helpful and kind. I wish there were a shuttle service that was available as we had to take a $20 cab ride each way to get to downtown and back. The staff also required us to tell them when we were planning to leave and return so they could clean, set up, or put away the beds, as well as prepare dinner and breakfast. This meant that we needed to stick to a schedule, which meant that we had flexibility in general - we had to be awake at a certain time for breakfast or had to return at certain times. All in all a great hotel, but better for people who prefer a more structured vacation.

一貫星野旅館的體驗
這次是我第二次入住這家溫泉旅館，上一次已是十年前，因第一次的經驗良好，十年後決定再次到訪。現分享今次入住的體驗和跟上次的分別。這家旅館十年前還是叫貴祥庵， 其實2006年已經是星野集團一員。服務有一貫星野集團的質素，旅館員工都會說英語，溝通沒有問題，也比較懂外國人的需要。這次入住的房間有私人露天風呂，還有一個小的庭園，空間不錯。大浴場有兩個，採用日替制，即男和女浴場每天對調。兩個大浴場的休閒區都有按摩椅，也有免費飲料和瓶裝水提供。館內提供付費指壓服務，我嘗過覺得比座免費按摩椅還要差。我這次選的膳食是日式料理，味道和擺盤不錯，只是不算有什麼驚喜。接下來是跟上次入住的比較。員工換了比較年青的，個人比較喜歡舊那批員工，因服務和體貼的程度較配合入住傳統日式旅館的感覺。以前有較像高級旅館提供的代客泊車服務，這次要自己泊車。以前晚餐在餐廳門口會列出用餐人士的姓氏和用餐房間，現已取消這安排。用餐房間以前是坐在地台上，現已填平改為擺放一般的餐檯和椅子。菜單以前會印上用餐人士的姓氏和當天日期，這次也沒有了。菜式方面，以前和牛會標名來源，現沒有特別註明。個人覺得以前比較有特色一點。房間沒有大的變化和翻新，還是保留十年前的模樣，只是電視機換上高清液晶的。房間雖然沒有翻新，但算是保養不錯，當然不可跟新開的旅館比較。旅館建築由名設計師羽深隆雄設計，外觀比較新潮，現在來看也不過時。總括來說界松本是一家不錯的旅館，只是以前好像更好。如果要到松本和上高地一帶旅遊，可以考慮一住。

Magnifique séjour
Très bel hotel avec des chambres traditionnelles, avec un Osen (bain chaud) privé donnant à l'extérieur. Les osen communs sont juste magnifiques (intérieur et extérieur). Nous étions en formule 1/2 pension. Les repas (petit déjeuner et diner) étaient juste extraordinaire! Qualité de la nourriture, service : parfait! Un maginifique souvenir.

I don't understand the hype about this hotel. The location is way out of town (costs 20$ to go to town by taxi) the view from the room is really nothing spectacular, the onsen is ok but small and the only dinner option costs 134,00 yen... I felt like all together way too much money for what it is really.

relaxing
we stayed at the end of out Japanese trip and it was nice to be out of the city, very quiet area, nice walks and temples near by. The Onsen was the highlight, the 2 areas were amazing, we went twice a day. very good service and good English from one of the staff was appreciated
