Easy check in, good facilities and generally clean. Some guests brought plates and food into the rooms which were left there overnight. Also some guests being very loud at 3am in the supposedly quiet area, when there is a common room downstairs. Staff need to enforce the rules to ensure comfort for all guests. Rooms a little warm and stuffy but much better than most hostels, comfortable beds, storage lockers and plugs/reading lights/usb at each bed.
A great place to stay while you settle into Galway
After hearing about the rental accommodation shortage in Galway, I decided to book in for a 2 week stay at the Savoy. As an incoming student from abroad, I wanted a place that was at first cheap, and second, clean and comfortable enough to allow me to withstand a two week stay while I searched the city for a permanent place to live. As this was my first time in a hostel, I was a tad apprehensive; however, I was pleasantly surprised. I found the Savoy to be clean, comfortable and much quieter than expected. The communal areas were clean and never overcrowded, while there was always ample room to store food, cook and wash/dry my clothes (important given my lengthy stay). The staff were very friendly and always on hand to assist and the other guests were nearly always considerate. Not only would I recommend the Savoy for incoming travelers, but also for anyone wishing to find alternative longer-term living arrangements if their options in the rental market are running dry.
This was our second stay at the Savoy in Galway. I cannot say enough good things about the Savoy and it's staff. I've stayed in many hostels over the years on 3 continents. Some very nice, some not so nice, but the Savoy is number one in my book. The staff was so accommodating, I felt like a 5 star luxury hotel guest. A special shout out to Paul, the manager. Great guy! Be nice to him!
Overall, a pleasant experience. Savoy was well-kept and clean (except for the pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen sink that was left for a number of days - cleanup after oneself needs to be enforced better). Staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.
The best hostel in ur 8 days journey in Ireland; almost like a hotel! Located very centrum but still in peaceful area. Nice staff, new and comfortable rooms including the shower, living room and kitchen. Special thanks for the own kitchen cleaner, who also take care of the dishes.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Drunken noises and yelling, pounding through wall.
This is an extremely great location with everything at your fingertips and toes to carry you around the city. The staff are nice and helpful, but somewhat not very proactive on keeping drinking and noise out. The sleeping is difficult but the breakfast is wonderful with great coffee, yogurt, toast, honey, cereal (no fruit) and tea all day long. I was looked at funny when I asked if there was a left-over cupboard of what people leave behind. I think they don't like sharing the wealth cause I did see stuff in a cupboard but hesitated on using the garlic, etc. when cooking (although did pinch a little olive oil lol) There are spies that sit in the community room all day in a corner so I know it is safe but the sleeping situation was really raw for me two nights in a row cause they allow drunks to come in and party with beer in the community room even and basically take over on the weekend nights.
