The Locanda Vivaldi is one of the most enviably situated hotels in Venice. I stayed in a standard double room which was furnished in traditional Venetian style with red wall hangings and dark wood furniture. There was a good-sized wardrobe with lots of hangers and a two drawers in the lovely dressing table. A very easy to operate safe and a minibar with room to store your own water were both very welcome, as were the complimentary slippers. The bathroom is reasonably sized, but the shower cubicle was quite small and the shower itself had to be switched on, which was a novelty. Plenty of fluffy towels were available.
You need to advise reception/concierge of what time you'd like breakfast, but this enables them to provide guests with freshly cooked eggs and bacon, which were excellent. Guests are also offered cereals, muesli, fruit, orange juice or water and a choice of hot drinks, and a plate of delicious breads and pastries will be brought to the table.
It is also possible to book dinner at the small rooftop restaurant La Preta Rossa, and its worth it just for the views, let alone the fabulous food - the steak was the best I've eaten this year and it was great to be able to thank "Cheffy" for the delicious dinner
The reception/concierge team are all most helpful and welcoming, and if you are looking for a hotel with fine service, beautiful views and excellent transport links, the Hotel Locanda Vivaldi is a great choice.
