Hyams Beach refers to both the stretch of sand along the coast and the town next to it, a sleepy, charming place that is home to only around 290 people. Visit the town to grab a snack, a cold drink or to find overnight accommodation. The beach itself is fairly undeveloped, meaning its pristine beauty has been left intact. The beach is very family friendly, since its waters are clear and great for paddling and swimming. Let your kids swim or snorkel in this calm part of the ocean and build castles on the clean, safe beach itself. Take advantage of the range of lovely trails nearby. Look for the many birds to be seen along the Hyams Beach Trail, which will lead you into Jervis Bay National Park. Its varied land and coastal habitats are home to a wide variety of native species.
Another trail to try is the White Sands Walk. Follow it along not only Hyams Beach but through some of the area’s other most striking white beaches too. Set out from Greenfield Beach, which is next to the town of Vincentia.
Stay in Hyams Beach itself, or choose the more urban environment of nearby Huskisson. Or stay in Sydney and drive. It takes less than 3 hours to reach this record-breaking beach, and it is a journey that is more than worth it.
