"Had a room on the front side of hotel. A lot of sirens in the late night, used to country life so maybe it wouldn’t bother others. "

"The hallways smelled like Marijuana, kids were running around making noise until 2:30 am. The pool was green, wet towels laying around, not clean at all. Front desk staff wasn't sure about the noise or where the security guard was during the night."

"The bartender who worked Monday night (March 16) was extremely rude and unprofessional. We ordered two rounds of drinks. The espresso martini from the first round didn't taste like espresso at all, but I drank it anyway because I didn't want to be a pain. When we attempted to order a second round, we stood at the bar right in front of him as he passed us over to serve other customers for 3-5 minutes before I finally asked him if we could order a drink. He finally responded to me. I asked him a question about making a lower calorie/sugar version of a paloma, but he was very clearly irritated that he even had to speak to me. We were the only Black people at the bar, and I couldn't help but notice the difference in the way we were treated compared to the other white customers at the bar. I even asked my husband if he did something to offend him when he ordered the first round of drinks, wondering if that was why we were being treated so poorly. I was also disappointed that Lazia was never open one time while we were there. We were told it was because of a "mishap". Everything else was fine, but the poor treatment from the bar tender on Monday night and Lazia never being open (we were not told this in advance) were two major disappointments."

"It is an older building in the heart of downtown so it’s expected to not be perfect condition…this is why I gave it 4 stars. Valet waiting on you, handed keys over and went to front desk. Check in fast. Room was excellent!!!!! TV saying welcome with my name. The bathroom was a true handicap one. Complete roll in shower. Restaurant atmosphere was perfection. Will be back!!!!!! Stay here when you’re needing a place when your downtown KC!!!"

"The staff is excellent, the front desk and the bellman were a blast from the past at the excellent service you come to expect from a Westin. Where it fell short wet the amenities which I’ve been accustomed to in my previous stays. It’s a little thing, but when you pay $400 for a hotel room you expect better than 1 ply toilet paper. Their beds are still the best in the business though. Make sure you bring a step stool if you are shorter than 5’2”. The biggest “miss” was the food service. I’m not expecting a free breakfast, but it’s odd to not at least find an option for a buffet style breakfast. I would have paid for it, but I wasn’t going to bring my family to sit down for an eclectic à la cart breakfast at 7:30am. So we went to Panera across the street and waited an hour for our food there (yikes.) It was clean, safe, and hospitable. If this was a Hampton or Holiday Inn I would give it five stars, but for the price and reputation is was a bit of a miss. We’ll be back this summer, but probably with different expectations."
