"Our one night stay was very enjoyable. The food was great. The staff was English friendly which really helped with our very limited Japanese. One night is not long enough to enjoy the local attractions. I would recommend staying at least two nights so that you have a day to explore the temples and trails. We stayed in June and didn’t find a need to use the air conditioner. We slept with the doors open and fell asleep to the sound of the river below. Also, there are hot baths available for your use in the shower rooms for soaking…no charge for that. Or you can pay for a private bath."

"Really enjoyed my stay. The room overlooked the river and had great views of the mountains, too. It was a nice break from being in the busier parts of Kyoto. You’re also super close to the bamboo forest and other lovely gardens. The staff was attentive and super helpful, especially when it was pouring outside and they offered a plastic bag to cover my luggage without me even asking. It was very useful in keeping my belongings dry. I can definitely recommend a stay here!"

"There is nothing negative to say. With all the private baths (and one was always available), it was the best hotel my husband and I have ever stayed in. It was the highlight of our Japan trip. Location literally steps away from the train station, so no dragging luggage around. And a 5-10 min walk to main street with all the shops and restaurants, monkey park and bamboo forest. If you are visiting Kyoto and like beautiful nature and tranquility, you'll want to stay here and take the 20 min train into Kyoto city, rather than the opposite."

"Lovely staff who were so helpful and knowledgable - kind and caring and helpful with great recommendations - the lovely private Onsen overlooking the river was a very special experience (as others have said we would have liked to have a later checkout but that was hard no) we loved it and would definitely like to go back there to see the mountains in all their colors x x"
