"Rooms are for sleeping as staying in them any longer not too appealing. Clean but basic; tired and small. Restaurant was more modern making it a nice place to sit and sample some rather good food. Swimming pool and sauna serves its purpose well. Lounge areas comfortable and inviting; a good place to sit if you can’t bare the bedrooms. Great location for Main Street, shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Also, great location to explore the Cairngorms with an abundance of activities to participate in if you choose.
Room not serviced. Bedding never changed after 3 days there. Had to request new towels and toilet paper. Staff helpful in this regard but wouldn’t expect you room to be cleaned or serviced.
No real concerns. Good enough; reflective of the price you pay.
All in all would stay there again."
"Dinner and breakfast were tasty. Had a delicious Blackberry Martini with dinner. Walked around village , very friendly people and staff was friendly. Very close to Balmoral Castle. "
"Breakfast buffet was a good selection, only problem was the warmest thing was the plates, alll 'hot' food was cold or luke warm at best, cold fried eggs are not great, food quality was good but just cant seem to keep it warm, i suggested a microwave in the area to heat up the Breakfast as ive found in numerous hotels
elsewhere, said we'll look into it, i cant possibly be the only person that's complained !!. So a single room was obviously small but tidy, clean and warm only problem was my window faced a brick wall and was covered in pigeon faeces all over outside and was all over window sill and brickwork all around and opposite my window, pigeons nesting all around and constantly chirping all nights, i couldn't open window for any fresh air because of the obvious pigeon droppings which are dangerous to human health if you have any respiratory problems, suggest this is an immediate clean up as it was very off putting, staff seemed aware of this but the pigeon mess still exists. I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN PHOTOS !!!"
"Lovely location and beautiful room with modern appointments and quality tea/ coffee/ toiletries etc. Convenient location for the highlands with things to see and do from the doorstep.
The only let down was the breakfast which took almost an hour to arrive after ordering, which sadly took the shine off an otherwise excellent stay. However, the management were very apologetic, so it would appear we were just unlucky on that occasion."
"What a quaint and lovely stay we had at the Atholl Palace. This was our only trip into the highlands on this Scottish vacation and it felt like a mini retreat. The scenery was beautiful. We explored all of the footpaths. The staff were very friendly, attentive and worked very hard. The atmosphere was coorie. From relaxing walks to veranda meals to a glass of wine or pot of tea by one of the many fires and sitting areas throughout the lounge and halls. We will definitely come back. A nice walk into Pitlochry. "
"On the main road through Aviemore . Not noisy and enough parking off road.
Room number one is very small with just enough room to manoeuvre around double bed. Small bathroom with shower. Bathroom all in black with small spotlights.
This room was very disappointing as it was so small. Only a kettle and sink, no toaster. Not enough room for two adults and two dogs.
There were two chairs at the bottom of the bed to watch TV both in poor condition.
Photos of the property do not reflect how small this room is."
"There is no air conditioning, but the weather was cool in April, so opening the window for a few minutes before bedtime made the room comfortable. Besides A/C the only amenity that was missing was a microwave oven. The room was very nice and quite large, compared to the others we stayed in on this trip."
"This establishment gives a hotel-B&B vibe. It’s not quite one or the other in this picturesque town.
As a solo traveler, I found the room cozy and spacious. The wardrobe was serviceable, and the room provided two luggage racks, which were helpful in organizing my belongings.
The hotel could use improvement in service, though. On two separate occasions, when I asked for a taxi, I was told to find their list of taxis and call myself. I have been traveling 10 months straight, and many four-star hotels call taxis for you.
My hotel room’s walls were thin. I could hear the couple in the room next to me laughing and talking.
Still, the hotel provides a hearty enough breakfast to keep you going for several hours.
And my stay was enjoyable enough that I would return."
