"We were able to secure a last-minute reservation for the night and were incredibly grateful we did. Lakeside Inn is a truly beautiful, historic property full of old-world Florida charm. If you are looking for a sleek, ultra-modern resort with endless amenities, this isn't it. But if your idea of a getaway is sitting quietly on the porch or out by the lake with a glass of wine, this place is magical.
The Pros:
True Relaxation: The atmosphere forces you to slow down and unwind. We wished we had found this place much sooner.
Comfort & Sleep: The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room AC kept us wonderfully cool throughout the night.
Scenic Outdoor Spaces: There is plenty of seating outside on the property to sit back and watch the lake.
Delicious Dining: We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in the bar/dining room.
The Pool: While the pool wasn't the cleanest we've ever seen, we still thoroughly enjoyed taking a dip during both the evening and morning.
The Cons (Historic Quirks):
Room Conditions: The room had a slight carpet cleaning smell upon arrival.
Plumbing & Noise: The shower temperature fluctuated occasionally, and a bit of hallway noise could be heard from time to time.
Final Verdict
The hotel certainly shows its age in a few aspects, but that is part of the historic charm. For us, the peacefulness, comfortable bed, and gorgeous lakeside setting far outweighed the minor quirks. We can't wait to return!"
