아름다운 성에서 자는것같은호틸
오래된 건물에서 느껴지는 신비로움과 맛있는 저녁식사메뉴. 뜨거운물이 중간에 끊키긴했지만 다른객실에서 사용할수있게 조치해줘서 좋았음

a strange experience - beautiful building externally, very institutionalised internally and basic. Nearly deserted. Bed sheet straight onto mattress and only one terrible thin pillow. Very small shower cubicle.

Gut war: die ruhige Lage, d. Größe des Zimmers, d. sehr nette Personal Nicht so gut waren: die trockenen, harten Aufbackbrötchen z. Frühstück, wenig Ablagemöglichkeiten im Bad und im Zimmer. Keine Garderobenhaken, Regale od. Ähnliches. Zu kleiner Schrank für 2 Personen, die 5 Nächte gebucht hatten.

Arrived before 9pm. No-one expecting us. No 'Reception' as such to check in at! Eventually we found our rooms. This is essentially an academic establishment, part of Parma University, which rents out a few badly maintained rooms and cares not a jot about the guests other than to welcome receipt of their funds. Poor and very small menu. Worse is the "Wine List". No wines at all at normal prices. We were advised that they only had 2 white wines - the cheaper was 35 euros a bottle, the other over 50! I see that other reviewers have complained about this too. On choosing the former it turned out to be a cheap white for which I would have expected to pay around 10 - 12 euros - decent supermarket quality. Accommodation frankly dirty, with a kitchen area without a sink or drinking water. Disrepair to walls and ceilings, and innumerable cobwebs. Add to that some extremely odd explicit paintings that are certainly not designed add to the quiet enjoyment of the quarters. Breakfast was limited choice and a nightmare as the cook's son was encouraged to play around us with his extremely shrill and noisy battery-operated robot toy, not to mention the cook herself wandering into the dining area and sneezing into her bare hands before returning to the kitchen. Against that, I can only set the interesting sculptures that adorn the grounds, the maintenance of which your stay is undoubtedly contributing to. Doesn't quite compensate I'm afraid. If you are coming here expecting an atmospheric historic hotel location you may be disappointed. This is basically a museum (part of the university and seems to be closed much of the time) and there are a few rooms which are adjoining the building. Although generous in size, these are student dormitory accommodation standard and if you have a lot of luggage you have to drag it across gravel from the car park and up a flight of stairs (no lift). Our room did not seem to have been used for some time as there was a musty smell when we went in. The building is very interesting (an old abbey) but it is in an isolated location surrounded by farms and industrial buildings. The location is convenient for the A1 highway but some distance outside Parma (don't book it unless you have a car). While it's interesting to visit, we found it eerie to spend the night there. Communication is a challenge if you don't speak Italian as the staff speak little English.

This is a very unique property for a hotel. It is just north of Parma in an ancient Abbey situated in the farmlands. Very quiet yet very close to the Autostrada. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Plentiful breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful.

l'endroit est très sympathique au calme à l'écart de la ville mais les chambres sont très simples les équipements pas en très bon état (portes serviettes cassés dans la salle de bain cabine de douche très exigüe) pas de télé en bref c'est trop cher pour ce type de logement C'est une ancienne abbaye d'accord, mais le confort est à améliorer

Simple but pleasant rooms in monastery cells
Peaceful location. Interesting exhibitions of modern art from the University of Parma's collection. A restaurant/cafe serving regional food is on site.

Unusual to say the least
Locanda Abbazia Di Valserena is far from being a normal stay. It is housed in an old building which was once an abbey and is now a modern art gallery connected with the University of Parma. Unfortunately we were just passing through so didn’t see the art works - other than the statues in the grounds. The welcome was very friendly. The room was large and clean and the bed enormous. There was no TV but we don’t mind that at all !! It’s situation is just outside Parma but in quiet rural surroundings. All in all a most pleasant stay.

This place was really an excellent surprise. It is a renovated abbey. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Marco who booked us in and took care of us was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast simple but fresh. Historical place lots of history, I highly recommend it.

Yes, this is the right place!!
We had no idea what we were in for. As we pulled up to the giant, beautifully lit building we thought I had made a mistake inputting the name of the hotel into Google maps. Upon closer review and perseverance we recognized that this was indeed the place and were very happy with the decision. The rooms are spacious and recently renovated. Marco is a gracious and fantastic host who worked hard to communicate with us despite the language barrier. We highly recommend this hotel.

Unique experience
Marco went out of his way to give us advise and directions to groceries and restaurants. Outstanding service. Rooms are spacious but the doors are low like 5.5 feet high. Extremely quiet, lovely place.

Arrivo in serata con tempo uggioso e riscontrato l'accesso alla struttura poco segnalato ed illuminato. Cordiale l'accoglienza e suggestiva l'abbazia. Unique and very pleasant hotel experience.
The hotel is an old abbey and looks it. It is very quaint and unique but very comfortable. The staff and restaurant are excellent. The best hotel we stayed in in Tuscany.

Das Hotel liegt ausserhalb von Parma, (ca. 7 km bis ins Zentrum mit dem Auto) und nur ca. 2 km zur Autostrada del Sole. Die Lage ist mitten auf dem Land und sehr ruhig. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr bescheiden.

Il posto è molto bello, in particolare la struttura della vecchia Abbazia e i servizi universitari. La ristrutturazione è di qualità. Un po' limitante l'orario della registrazione per le camere. Dal sito non era chiarissima l'apertura alle 18,00. Abbiamo soggiornato in una delle suite. Spazi ampi, arredo essenziale ma funzionale, pulizia buona. La colazione è adeguata al livello del luogo. Buon rapporto qualità prezzo.

We are only 5 km from the city center, more or less 15 minutes by car. Normally the hotels don't have an international museum inside. ;)
