The room was basic, cleaned daily, staff really helpful. Nights were loud as we were staying on left side of building so we’d hear the bars pumping out music until 5am. Earplugs sorted that. AC in room was nice. Don’t expect luxury, you’re really just sleeping here and spending the rest of the day doing excursions and hanging out on beach. Hotel is 5 min walk from beach and 5th avenue. The only downside is that I had the hotel pre book transportation for me to get back to airport on departure day, we did this two days in advance. I put down a deposit with the hotel. The transportation never arrived and we almost missed our flight. We had to scramble to make last minute alternatives at 6:30 in the morning. Hotel only reimbursed us 70% of our deposit paid for the non existent transportation. I’m sure this wasn’t intentional and most likely the language barrier didn’t help. I’d still stay here again on future trips.

Wonderful little gem near Quinta Avenida. Walkable to all the great spots! Great restaurants nearby and an awesome fruit grocery nearby. Clean and safe! Great staff.

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean but a bit small. Not bad though. The restaurant next door is very good. The WiFi is the only thing I had an issue with. It was sketchy at best. It was a bit noisy at night but quieted down after midnight. I definitely recommend this hotel.

This Hotel is a gem! Tucked into a quiet neighborhood just off the fabulous Quinta Avenida in Playa del Carmen. Good vibes and cool looking rooms. I have a King sized bed and a huge, tiled bath tub with a rain forest shower. The swimming pool is excellent. Staff is very friendly and professional.

I had been prepared for the hotel to be a little noisy given its location in the downtown area of Playa del Carmen. The problem wasn't outside, it was inside! There were people at the pool all bloody night and the noise deflected throughout the hotel, it was very hard to sleep. The staff was super nice, and the restaurant that served breakfast and we went there for dinner as well was really delicious and a nice environment.

We had a lovely time staying at Hotel Colonial in PDC! The staff was friendly and helpful, always willing to suggest activities or call a taxi when we needed it. They also speak English and Spanish for those who may not be as familiar with Spanish. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, exactly what we needed to come back to after long days of activities. We also spent a good amount of time by the pool which was just perfect! The area around the hotel felt very safe and was only a short walk from the beach and Quinta Avenida so we walked pretty much everywhere! If you are looking for a good local restaurant to try, we frequently stopped by Muelle de Chema right next door - the food is delicious and the staff are very kind and friendly. Overall, a fantastic experience!! I would recommend this Hotel Colonial to anyone!!!

The customer service was great! 2 out of our 4 rooms reserved were older and out dated. We would have liked to have our family all on one floor or closer to one another but the hotel was unable to accommodate this. One of the rooms had many cockroaches.

The hotel was very well located. The pool and all the shared areas were very clean (the cleaners worked tirelessly). The rooms were a good size. The towel policy was a bit difficult (i.e. you had to leave ID, which seems weird since they already had your information including credit card info. Also, their policy on sheet changes was draconian, i.e. we stayed a week. Mid week, my daughter asked for a sheet change and was told the cost would be 700 pesos which is almost $50. This seems excessive since if we had stayed 1 night, they would have changed the sheets for the next guests.
