Hi Dawn,We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us, however, the reason for you leaving a few days earlier is quite incorrect, as we have reports of you having issues with your roommate and being intoxicated. We would have been happy to have moved you into another room but you preferred to check into another Hostel. We do hope you'll have a better experience on your continuous travel

Hi Amber, I am sorry to hear our staff was not operating on all cylinders during your stay with us. They are typically one of the highlights of our guest stays so we will make certain to see what needs to be adjusted and hope that you will give us a second chance to give you a much better and sustained welcome. Unfortunately, I do not think we will be able to resolve the stair problem other than to assign you to a room on the second or third floor. Safe travels!

I am having a difficult time understanding why you would tell us to our face that everything was fine, you had no problems, you just needed to return to your country earlier than expected and we refunded the 2 nights back to you. Would you mind explaining why you gave us a score of 2?

Mr. Driskill, I am so sorry you feel this way. While the building is admittedly old, it comes with a lot of character. I don't know how you rated the overall property condition as poor considering all of the common areas and all bathrooms, showers, and kitchen have been newly renovated within the last 4 years. This is after all a hostel and not the Four Seasons.

Hi Rick, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback and review! We admit it can get loud outside due to our proximity to the Gaslamp district and having a pub beneath us. We do offer free earplugs to help mitigate the noise. Next time you're here, request a 3rd or 4th-floor room. The noise isn't as much of a nuisance on those floors. Cheers!

Hi Patrick, despite what seems like a dissatisfied stay, thanks for the 8/10 score. In our defense, the building is 110 years old, so while she is old, she does have character! I'm not sure what you mean by a defective toilet flush. All of our toilets are fully functional and have not had any recent issues. Our volunteer staff works incredibly hard to keep the hostel clean and do a very good job at it, even during sold-out weeks like ComicCon. I hope you brought up any issues you had with our reception to out managers so they could address those issues with the staff. We do hope you'll give us another chance the next time you are in San Diego! Cheers!

Hi David, I am sorry to hear about your disappointing stay with us. I can assure you that the bed linens are washed and changed after every guest checks out. Due to the age of the building, and the wood floors and frame, it can after rain or in humidity, cause a musty smell but we do everything we can to mitigate that with air fresheners and with cleaning the hostel several times throughout the day. We hope you will give us another chance to shine on your next visit to San Diego. Cheers!

For next time, if you didn't on this trip, grab a few pairs of free earplugs at reception. They will help mitigate the street noise! Or you could upgrade to one of our deluxe private rooms, which are on the interior side of the building.
