Lovely Casa Verde

This was my first hostal stay in 40+ years of traveling, and it was wonderful. Carlos and his entire staff were warm, friendly, and helpful. Carlos helped us plan excursions that made our trip a great success. The included breakfast was delicious. Our room and all the beautiful common spaces were clean and comfortable. The pool was a wonderful respite in the heat. The vibe was lovely. The generous fridge space and communal kitchen were so helpful as I navigate dietary issues. There is an attached restaurant/bar open in the evenings, with delicious sangria made by Carlos. I’m so glad we chose Casa Verde as our Santa Ana home base.

Carlos and his team were very good and spoke great English, they had great tips for travel, good food selection, great music at the cafe. They had hammocks which we could use, a very good room, and excellent shower. A great place to stay in Santa Ana.

The best hostel I've seen

The most friendly, cosy and comfortable hostel I've ever seen. I thank all the staff for their wonderful hospitality. The place feels really friendly and no traveller will regret staying there.

Chuveiro maravilhoso, café da manhã delicioso.

Apenas não gostei da parte de ter que consumir lá somente as bebidas do hostel. Até entendo por um lado, mas ficamos presos a somente as opções deles. Digo isso, por que na geladeira, muito bem organizada, não pôde-se colocar bebida alcoólica. Tirando isso, tudo bem bacana. Ficaria mais dias por lá.

SENSACIONAL

Casa Verde é um lugar sensacional. O anfitrião, Carlos, é uma pessoa atenciosa e solícita. Os quartos privados são amplos, com TV e Ar Condicionado, ótimo sinal de Wi-Fi. Banheiro espaçoso e com ducha quente e fria. A cozinha compartilhada é bem equipada. Os produtos à venda (chocolates, biscoitos, bebidas, etc) tem preços bastante razoáveis. O café da manhã é sensacional, delicioso e variado a cada dia. A localização é muito boa. As áreas comuns são bastante convidativas e agradáveis. Possui um pátio central e uma área de piscina muito agradável. Foi uma excelente estadia, ótima experiência. Importante ressaltar que os valores cobrados são compatíveis com a qualidade oferecida.

A perfect hostal especially for cooks

Great place to stay for backpackers or solo travelers especially if you like to cook. They have 2 well stocked chefs kitchens with all the supplies you need. The customer service is outstanding and the views from the top of the property are outstanding. The hostal is centrally located and close to everything.

Best spot in El Salvador

Carlos answered all of our many many questions. The room, hostel, pool all clean. Filtered water available, a gorgeous wine bar attached. A little slice of heaven in Santa Ana. I have stayed at maybe 50+ hostels in my life and this is in my top 3. Recommend it completely!

I’ve been to 40 countries and stayed in hostels all around the world. This is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Everything is perfectly thought out, tons of little touches that make life so much easier - ample shelves in private room, incredible shower, comfortable bed. There is access to kitchen, coffee, drinkable water, clean pool, hammocks… I could go on forever. The host is incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. He even re-parked our car on a one way street. I am jealous of everyone yet to experience Casa Verde and Santa Ana.

My husband and I were there for just one night on our way to visit family but we decided to stay an additional night just to relax and visit other tourist sites near Santa Ana! The Hostal has everything you need nice bathroom, nice kitchen and dining area with refrigerators and an equipped kitchen so that you can cook your own meals! The staff was excellent very helpful and friendly, we truly felt at home and enjoyed every minute of our stay. I would recommend this place for vacation, business or just to hide away for a few days. Good to know that the Hostal has a beautiful mid-size swimming pool, a roof top (360 views) and lots of hangout areas! Hot water is a plus.

Exactly what you need for a quiet night

The hotel owner is super helpful and resourceful, and the hotel itself is very serene at night. I finally have a great sleep at this place since arriving in El Salvador.

This place is super nice and comfortable, totally deserving of all the perfect reviews. Carlos and his staff are really helpful and knowledgeable. It's the only place I would ever stay in Santa Ana.

Best hostel ever

Amazing place. Should be mandatory for anyone opening a hostel to spend a week here to see how it should be done. Kitchen is well stocked. Every small detail is thought about. Carlos is extremely helpful with any questions. He organized transportation to bars and back to us when needed. Best hostel I've ever seen

Stay here!

Carlos was super helpful throughout my 3 night stay, even when my transfer from Antigua didn’t collect me as arranged and I arrived much later than planned. For info, the hostel doesn’t have 24hr check-in (this was in the hotels.com listing but is incorrect - staff leave ~midnight). Whether you go on one of his trips or not, he gives good advice re. the local area. I don’t generally stay in hostels but the dorm was clean, quiet, relatively spacious, no bunks, and comfy. The kitchen has everything you need, including stove top espresso maker, and coffee is even provided. There’s also garlic, oil, loads of herbs etc. for use if you choose to cook. And snacks, cereal, yogurt, ice cream, beer, wine, from cupboards / fridges in an honour system. I didn’t use the pool but there’s space to do yoga too. Book any transfers out in advance - avoid Ticabus (the transfer to Managua, Nicaragua, was awful) - Carlos can help with this but not with the premium buses (which I never managed to figure out). The bus he’ll signpost you to for getting to San Salvador is a chicken bus ($1 per person and a further $1 per big bag) - if you have more than 1 bag, this is s horrible journey. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Santa Ana. There’s loads of stuff to do nearby, either independently or on a tour - the benefit of the tours is you see much more in a day. A 75 minute trip to the thermal waterfalls (just go!!) was a half day enterprise.
