You can do as much or as little as you like using this as a base. We just love the ambience of the whole area. We did trips by car, train, boat, bus as well as feet. Would visit again. We did the self guided tour which was very good, but a great tour guide would have filled in little bits and pieces …..plus I think there’s a haunted walk component to it! If you get a chance book Room 304 as it’s a corner room on the top floor and the ONLY one with an additional window with a decent view (4 windows versus just 3). The car park had travelling contractors vans in it in the early evening and all gone before breakfast that starts at 8am.
