"Dear General Manager,
I am writing to formally bring to your attention the unacceptable conditions we encountered during our recent one-night stay at your Walterboro, GA location. We arrived and checked in at approximately 10:00 PM, having paid $180 for the night.
Upon arrival, we discovered that the elevators were out of service, forcing us to use the stairwells. The stairs were visibly very dirty and poorly maintained, which set a terrible first impression for our stay.
The situation worsened once we settled into our room. We discovered that the bedding on both beds had not been changed following the previous guests; the sheets were wrinkled, covered in debris, and contained multiple strands of hair. Furthermore, the bathroom smelled overwhelmingly of bleach—as if it had been poured out to mask a lack of actual sanitation—while the bathroom floor was dirty and the baseboards were in terrible condition.
Given the late hour, we went down to the front desk to address the bedding situation. The front desk agent provided us with fresh linens, which we then had to change ourselves.
For a $180 room, we expect a high standard of hygiene and property maintenance, both of which were entirely absent."
