Winter Park Historical Museum chronicles the development of the city since its beginning in 1881. According to local history, Loring Chase from the cold and windy city of Chicago was advised to be in a warmer climate to improve his health. When the businessman arrived in this Florida area he found not much more than a few weathered houses and rail tracks, but he saw potential.
