"Great value stay at this once state of the art 1930s hotel. Full of old world charm, white cotton sheets, surprised they were not starched. Huge bedrooms and with a bath. Big breakfast in the period dining room. Ideally situated and next door to the Grand Hotel with more opulence. "

"Lovely old bungalow. The butler service we had was exceptional. It’s cold at night so fires in rooms & hot water bottles in bed at night. Food really good. They don’t have a drink license so happy to serve your own. I just recommend you keep your gin in your room rather in their fridge. "

"We stayed for two nights as we drove from East to West. The weather was miserable and hotel empty so we enjoyed dedicated service from the staff there. We ate dinner there both nights with our own table up on the balcony, the food and service were great and the meal was just a couple of quid. Other reviews spoke of dirty rooms and poor facilities but in the context of a non European environment I think the staff did particularly well and since it is not 5 star one should not expect that level...

We had Chulan who looked after us during our stay and was very attentive and helpful. This place is old charm but with modern day facilities. "Loved the decor of this place which was why we chose it . Didn’t disappoint. Really comfy bed with massive duvet to keep warm under. Loved having the separate lounge area as well. Efficient hot water systems in place for the shower and sink. Would have preferred a more traditional Sri Lankan breakfast but cannot complain about what was provided. "
