"I love this, it is very unique and like a tropical paradise. Very clean, I even saw them turning out a room to clean it. Quiet sleep. Very nice full breakfast, scrambled eggs, waffles and pancakes, sweet rolls, and home fries etc, the only thing missing was biscuits and gravy. I highly recommend it. Very easy to get to and a few blocks to the ocean on highway 101."

"This is a historic building, so you should not expect a bunch of modern hotel amenities. But our room was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfy and the water pressure was fantastic. Just be aware to not keep valuables in your vehicle. Someone did try and take our kayak off the car during the day. It is close to restaurants, across from the Eureka theater, walking dustance to Old Town and the Bay. I would recommend for anyone looking for a good central location in Eureka. "

"My second stay at Holiday Inn Express at Arcata was much like my first. Exceptional! The only minor complaint was the cleaning of the sheet metal roof during the day. It’s a petty complaint as it’s routine maintenance that needs to be done. It does not detract from my stay and experience in Arcata!! Hopefully they don’t get any negative reviews because of the work. "

"Douglas checked us in. He was wonderful. He takes great pride in Carter House and it shows. We loved the uniqueness of this historic hotel. It was like taking a step back in time, in a good way. The extra touches like the complimentary breakfast that goes above and beyond by an amazing chef and a complimentary cocktail at a cool bar each night was a welcome reprieve. We also appreciated the proximity to the Redwood forest. Driving thru the Avenue of the Giants was incredible. We will be back! "

"We love visiting the Mendocino coast and town And have wanted to stay and dine at this beautiful ocean front inn on or previous visits but could not get a room or dining reservation So glad we could stay there this time! Close to town and many amazing state parks but private and a high quality service experience Our room looked over the river meets ocean bay Sea birds were there The food and service in the restaurant was creative delish and four star!
