A hotel that I DO NOT recommend, if you are going to go you will have to take a 4x4 truck otherwise you will not have a way to get out on that street, also read well you are 29 km from Bacalar, in the area of this establishment there is NOTHING around , the people who receive you are good people however they have no voice or vote, they are only caretakers who live next to the villas, the second night there was no electricity in the property, so we had no air conditioning and no way to charge the cell phone, the night was extremely hot and there was no way to sleep, at that time I contacted help from hotels.com but there was none help and today there still with out an answe

bien

Nicely located a few meters form the lagoon, thus priority with wood cabins is comfy, but it lacks any kind of food service.

Beware! The only property access is a STEEP 200 metre cowpath over tree roots would be dangerous in rain. There were no clear signs Had to drive on that to go back to Bacalar, 25 km. away. Or room was in a building across from the gated facilities on the beach. We were not allowed to use the beach chairs, kayaks etc. Nor was there any breakfast or coffee available for purchase. The person that let is us in did not explain the access to the beach facilities. Nor did she offer contact info in case we needed something. I think the offering on Expedia has to be re written to clarify what is being offered.

The property is beautiful and Zenaida gave us a charming welcome. It’s a great place to stay and for sure we will return to spend a quiet and restful time there. The only thing you need to consider is to bring something to eat and drink for lunch or to have dinner. The nearest restaurant is in Bacalar (25 minutes away from the place).

Sewer smell and poor communication

At first when we arrived we loved the remote nature of the location. However there are no restaurants or services in the village and there is not even a coffee maker in the room. We were ok with making the most of the rustic retreat until we woke up in the morning to the most unpleasant sewer smell in our room. The remote manager said it would be fixed but the site manager never followed up with us to say that there was a specific remedy. We got the impression that it was a reoccurring event. Additionally this might be an ok rental as a whole property but as an individual room you will end up next to potentially noisy neighbors with a paper thin wall between you. Additionally when we wanted to leave in the morning we found we couldn’t as the large gate was locked. Disappointed because the location on the lake is nice.
