“Despite many pleasant stays in Carmel, this visit was egregiously poor. I booked a one-night stay and called ahead to notify the front desk of a late arrival. I was told it would not be an issue. When we arrived at 10:30 p.m., we were asked to wait until the 11 o'clock shift change to check in. Only after mentioning my earlier call did the staff member apologize and confirm we were already checked in. We were then misdirected to our room, told it was on the first level through the glass doors....
