"The staff was friendly. They had the wrong room for us when we went to check-in, so we had to wait another 30+ minutes to check-in. That was frustrating, but we were offered a beverage and snack for each of us. Once you get past the lobby, the space is dated, but everything was clean. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms are small, but overall the space was nice. It’s walkable to downtown and the restaurants, which was great. "

"While the hotel was lovely, I had an unpleasant experience prepaying through Expedia (I paid in full through Expedia). When I checked in, when the person at the front desk asked me for my credit card, I confirmed that I had prepaid through Expedia. He told me I wasn’t being charged they just swipe and do a $50 hold for incidentals that would be temporary and would fall off after they close out when I checked out. So that is normal and typical and I had no issue with that. Then he asked me to swipe again. I again reminded him this was prepaid and he assured me I wasn’t being charged anything. I thought maybe first swipe timed out or something. I got up to the room and saw 2 charges on my card. One for $50 and another for $330. I got in touch with my card provider and Expedia. Expedia was no help at all. I went to the front desk and the same gentleman that checked me in was there. He called over the manager (both men were very polite) who helped me. He told me that when you prepay with Expedia, they provide the hotel with a virtual card to charge and there was an issue with Expedia’s virtual card and it was declined (even though I paid 2 weeks earlier through Expedia). After some back and forth he promised that he had cancelled the $330 charge and at midnight it would be reversed. Nothing happened and I still don’t have my refund. So beware using Expedia and prepaying. Their customer service will leave you high and dry and make you double pay."

"AC unit was covered in grime, barely worked. Wi-fi didnt work. Reached out for help and was hung up on (no one on property to assist), sent a message to text line for help, hours later was given another network name and password. Neither connected, sent another message and was never answered. No accessible outlets, had to unplug the TV to charge phones. Bedside lamp did not have a lightbulb. Only positive was the cloud-like bed and impossibly cozy blankets. Glad the stay was just an overnight."

"Recently stayed at The Union Gables Inn for my wife's birthday and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Everything from the location (so close to downtown and the horseracing museum/race track - both within a very quick walk), the building (my wife was in love with the room, the victorian architecture and antiques) and the staff (all so friendly and eager to help or chat). The breakfast was restaurant quality (so much better than any other hotel or B&B I've stayed at), the bed was probably the biggest I've ever slept in, and they even have a cat walking around who came to say hello :)."
