Congress Plaza Hotel

"The hotel itself is huge with the historic main room being spectacular. Our room was a hike to get to but very clean, newer vinyl flooring, newer paint. We needed a one night stay for an event further south in the city so it was perfect for that. The location is pretty wonderful with Buckingham fountain and the park right outside the front door. What wasn't so great was the front desk personnel. Seemed like they just hated their job. Not quite rude but getting there with my polite simple questions. Also the main restaurant was supposed to be open on Friday night but closed early? The bar area was unappealing so we ended up walking a block to the Conrad Hilton and had a great experience in their bar with food being served until late. Would we stay again? If for a short stay, yes."

"Nice and clean. Good spacious rooms and toilets. Great view of falls Canada and the USA from the restaurant. Must visit the restaurant. About 10 min walk down the hill to the falls. Very nice Brazilian restaurant on site. Great for a dinner buffet."

"Nice hotel and great central location. Lobby restaurant/café/bar great! My room was tastefully renovated and decorated but small. Perfect for a solo traveller travelling on business (which was my case) but would have been cramped/small for a couple on vacation."

"Enormous room tastefully decorated. Weird that there were stairs between the bed and bathroom but at least they were lit. Not a fan of the transparent bathroom wall so you can't turn on the bathroom light without lighting up the bedroom. Also not crazy about the temp control not having a fan only mode because the furnace and AC coming on during the night was loud. Lighting was good in living room area, bathroom, and closet and had nice touches like 3-way switches. An office chair would be a nice addition. Soaps provided were nice and not too smelly. Local guide directory in room was nice and we were just a block from at least half a dozen restaurants and the people mover. Decent mini grocery store a couple of blocks away and some convenience stores closer (good for water because it was $5 in the hotel fridge). Gym was pretty basic but functional, no water cooler but had a sink. Elevators were fast and smooth."
