"*Very Important* Park very close to hotel entrance in very visible spot. I was almost attacked by a man after parking at 11PM on 9/23/26. I was with my mother and best friend, 3 women. I got out of the SUV and was bent over leaning inside back seat door, digging in my Louis Vuitton purse (which I almost didn’t bring due to high target item) for something and didn’t know there was a black man standing directly behind my back about to attack me or robb us. I never heard a thing, and he was so close behind me. Super terrifying! My best friend ran around the car, as they thought he had a knife, to stop him. He turned around, directly in her face, and just starred at her for a minute, turned, and walked around quietly, to the car beside us, and started trying to break in right in front of us. He acted unfazed we were staring at him, stunned, and then acted like nothing, and just walked off into the dark. I did report it to the front desk to get security out there. Don’t leave things in your car and watch your back. Tourists may be targets there. The staff were great and view was beautiful with great spot on the beach. It’s not a bad area and nice hotel. Just be aware of your surroundings, you never know. This could happen anywhere but tourists don’t know areas, like home. Regardless of all, I would definitely go to Destin again! Amazing beautiful vacation place!"
