“This hotel is the worst. We could see dust everywhere in the room. Even the bathroom ventilator was almost covered with dust and the first thing we did after checking in was to wipe off the fan's wings with a wet tissue.  The old blanket and the hair of someone attached to it were enough to disappoint us on the first day of our Asakusa trip. We decided to reserve another hotel for the rest of the day.”

“We stayed the night without having any contact with the staff. The room key was in a lock box. The code was emailed to me. A steep staircase led to the second floor. The room was larger than I expected for a Japanese hotel in that price range.”

“Our host Yoshi and the staff at Toe Library were incredibly welcoming, offering us tips around the neighborhood and, when we left, a bag of delicious Japanese cookies. The room itself was cozy, well-appointed, and full of personality—and we especially appreciated that because we happened to be there during a typhoon and spent a lot of time lounging there as we waited for the worst of the storm to pass. This is a completely unique stay and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo.”
