COVID-19 may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't halted our eagerness for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to tackle the new challenges of traveling:

• Before locking in your flight, find out if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your origin and destination. Keep informed with the latest updates by reviewing government websites.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to temporarily lower your mask to verify your identity.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position your pass on the scanner and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now allowed in your carry-on bag. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to take it out of your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Place any personal items (phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on instead of a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• If you want to take food through the security checkpoint, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
