"The building is old so don’t expect it to be like a modern hotel. It has heat but no air conditioning. The windows are drafty so we had the heat on in early May during our stay because it snowed. No great dining options nearby so we drove to Deadwood to eat. Breakfast is minimal. Coffee and orange juice and bagels and muffins. But it’s historic and it’s unique so it’s a great place to stay for a different experience. "

Direct access to Durango Silverton Rail Station. On main street so dining options are exceptional and in walking distance. Treat yourself to a exceptional night at the General Palmer."

"Historic hotel with water taking up to 7 minutes to warm up, which is mentioned at check-in. Historical pictures and artifacts were cool. AC units run for a very short time, then come on again and again. However, the grounds are beautiful!"
