"We get there and there's no key code for the key box because someone lost a key and reception wouldn't give us a key. Had to wait u til someone answered the phone at the number provided. When we finally got it unlocked we couldn't lock the door again. No sheets. No pillow cases. Not even toilet paper. No mention that we had to bring our own."

"A great find and close to the centre of town - our return trip as loved it so much before - the room was very clean and maids kept it in order stocking up tea tray etc - breakfast was good with a large choice - bar was ok but we preferred to be out on an evening - the pool sauna and jacuzzi an added bonus - all staff really helpful"
"As much as I liked my room's layout, the desk, the bed, the many wall outlets, and the city of Manchester, there are a number of things that tarnished the experience of staying at a&o Manchester City Centre. One big disappointment, which I assume was unusual, is that the fire alarm went off briefly in my room (in all the rooms, apparently) three of four times my second night and once my third afternoon. Because there are no phones in the hotel rooms nor is there any way to use one's own phone to call reception to find out what was wrong, many of us simply walked down the flights of stairs to ask; apparently the alarm disabled the elevators. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how big a safety hazard it is NOT to have a room phone linked to reception. There was simply no way of knowing there WASN'T a problem without heading downstairs (and upstairs). The other thing I noted was the lack of a water kettle to make coffee/tea in the rooms. In fact, there wasn't even a glass in the bathroom. Finally, and perhaps most damning: the breakfast was utterly mediocre. I was immediately sorry I had signed up for it in advance. I travel a lot and this was my first a&o experience. I wrote an email to customer service and got no response. Apparently this company is in the "wholesale" business and considers the experiences of any one traveler to be incidental. On this current UK trip I have stayed in Ibis, Mercure, and Premier hotels, all of which out-performed a&o."
"A unique hotel experience. The rooms are absolutely huge. Ours had its own bar complete with bar stools! Superbly equipped bathrooms and very comfortable beds. The staff are extremely helpful and professional. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. If you are looking for something extra special for your stay in Liverpool, this would be hard to beat."
"The hotel has no car drop off / pickup area.
The reception very small and overcrowded.
Decor in the hotel dark and inviting.
Too far away from the terminals, 30 mins walk."
"Booked a room for one night and check in takes a long time so was waiting in a queue. Got to our room (3003) and it was small which we didn’t mind but the window was really small so hardly any sunlight came in.
Secondly and more importantly there is some sort of pump in the bathroom so anytime you use the water or flush the toilet a really loud pump kicks in which isn't helpful when one of us is trying to rest.
We had dinner booked in Chester at 8pm so I called reception at 6.40pm and was asked what I wanted doing about the issue. I asked ro be moved rooms and was told that reception will call us back. I called back at 7pm asking for an update and reception (Emma i think) told me they were really busy and fully booked so it is difficult but will call me back within 10 minutes. I informed her we had dinner booked so needed a resolution quick. She never called back so I headed down to reception about 7.20pm. She was very nonchalant about the issue and told me the hotel was fully booked - before serving me there was a couple checking in so could have offered their room. She told me she couldnt do anything now but will sort it out by the time we arrived back from dinner.
We returned from dinner around 10.30pm and still didnt sort it. I ended up speaking to Gordon who regurgitated that they were fully booked. I said thats not good enough as the room is not adequate. He spoke to a manager on the phone and they put us in a club room at 11pm!"
