Northeast Mississippi, Mississippi hotel rooms at the Independent

"I’ve stayed at this property several times over the last 4 years. Staff is always friendly. The property has aged and the rooms aren’t as clean and maintained as prior stays. The coffee pot had old coffee grounds from someone’s last stay. The bathroom walls had repair marks that were never painted and shower didn’t look very clean. Was surprised this last visit so probably my last stay."

"The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was almost non-existent. There were some cheerios and some mini muffins. The room was clean but the area getting to the room was not. There was a cover on the pool and things were growing out of it. The nozzle on the shower leaked water everywhere except out of the holes. We ran out of TP and called down for more with the cell phone because the room phone didn't work. He said we should come get it. But after some words he did agree to bring it up. When we checked out I reminded him that the phone didn't work in the room. His response: "Well the roof didn't cave in did it"."

"Loved this place and the layout of the suite we stayed in. Everyone was so nice and my husband enjoyed breakfast! Will definitely stay here again if I am in the area!"

"The room was disgusting and had bugs. Cockroaches and what looked like bedbugs. Staff said there was nothing they could do. Room was “clean” but sheets and pillow cases had nasty stains and looked disgusting. Overall the worst place I have ever stayed."

"The biggest issue with this hotel is that there is no elevator. Interior room door with no elevator is really just unheard of. It never occurred to me to ask. They gave rolling carts to get your luggage in. Why? Just for first floor use I guess. We purchased the suite-the most expensive room they have. It has a jacuzzi tub. We were allowed two extra towels. We were allowed 4 bath towels total on a $250 a night room. The pool closed at 9pm. It’s an indoor pool right by the lobby. Why close it so early? It would have been nice to swim after dinner but unless you eat at 5pm on a Saturday night you won’t get to. It was dated but decently clean. For the money, I expected better."
