With the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic, traveling today comes with a few more challenges than usual. Cast your eye over the following tips before jumping on your flight to Northwest High Country:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking your flight. Also check if there are any conditions you'll have to follow on arrival, such as taking a COVID-19 test.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• Instead of handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, place it straight on the reader yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• You're permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. You'll have to remove it for X-ray screening.
• Remove items from your pocket, like your small change and phone, and put them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA officer will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
