"I feel like I perhaps did not experience The Castle at its best, but I would be willing to try again. Being a weeknight in shoulder season, there evidently weren't many rooms booked, and I was quite surprised that there would not be any overnight staff. I was in the main building adjacent to the parking lot, and although there is a nice view, it is immediately above highway 97, and it was LOUD. "The property and grounds were good, well maintained and interesting, but there was no air conditioning ,the room was hot, the restaurant, bar and spa were closed. breakfast was adequate but unimaginative. the staff were present but were not attentive. It was as if they had already closed for the season and just going through the motions. a lot of money for just a room. not a great experience."

"It is quite nice to stay in a historic building and the pub food below is also very enjoyable. The bar staff check you into your room, but are not fully equipped to do so. The hotel manager tries to insist on cash payments, which is not feasible when travelling with a credit card."
