"Hotel St. James is prime location if you are looking to be steps from times square, the theatres and shopping. I was worried it was goint to be loud because of how close it was to the main strip but it wasn't. Overall this is a good budget hotel. It is a little dated but that didn't affect our stay at all. The front desk staff was super nice and they offer a shuttle service to the airport as well. I do wish they had a mini fridge in the room but other than that we had a good stay. "

"Stayed here from March 22 to March 24. Overall, I really liked it. The location is very convenient there’s a subway station nearby, and at the same time the hotel is quiet. The room is small, but it’s comfortable since you have your own private space and no one bothers you. It’s also located in a great area where many places are within walking distance."

"Did not use their internet. Staff was nice. Provided free water at the front desk. No coffee machine in the room. That would have been nice. Cleaned our room daily and provided lots of fresh towels. "

Despite this, we received no communication or updates from the hotel, and the standard 4:00 PM check‑in time passed without any notice. When I followed up at the front desk, I was told the room was still being cleaned. By 5:00 PM—eight hours after our arrival—we still had no information. The second front desk agent I spoke with was unable to provide any meaningful assistance. This left us no choice but to escalate the matter to the manager. Unfortunately, the manager’s response was unacceptable, unprofessional, and dismissive. He stated that the room was not ready, refused to provide even an estimated availability time, and claimed there was no way to check with the cleaning staff—an explanation that is unreasonable and concerning for a hotel of this standard. We were finally able to check in at 8:00 PM, which is four hours past the regular check‑in time. The complete lack of communication, transparency, and basic customer service caused significant inconvenience and reflects poorly on the hotel’s operational standards. The only positive aspect of this experience was Alex, who was the only staff member who provided genuine assistance and helped resolve the situation after hours of unnecessary delays. "

The AC isn’t on half the year so you can’t operate it in your room. The staff was nice but they can only work with what they have. Had high hopes for this hotel but won’t be staying again. "
