“The location of the property is good if you don't mind walking. The parking permit given to allow parking in certain zones is very good. Although if busy can be difficult to find a space but that is nothing the owners can control. The room was clean.
We had the small double room. It is very compact. The bed seems very small for a double and is pushed against a wall, not ideal when 2 people are sleeping in it. The shower was small too. You can hear the conversations in the next room.

“The room, whilst small was clean and comfortable. The issue we had was with a lack of parking. At the time of booking the hotel was described as having parking available. It did not mention that it was in short supply. On arrival the hotel car park was full along with all available street parking. We had to park on double yellow lines using our blue badge until a street parking space became available. We could not access the hotel car park until the following day. We elected to eat some of the...
“I genuinely think this hotel is just basic. For the price you would expect more better looking interior, freshness/cleanliness or service. It’s got no parking on site contrary to what they put up except street parking. The stench of old rug mixed with moisture welcomes you upon entrance, hallway small. Staff just about okay, breakfast; basic stuff you can get from any bnb setting. The only positive was the size of the room. Again we chose that cos of our family size. Sorry, it’s a no from me....
“- The shale beach across the road was the most amazing I have ever seen.
- The menu is misleading. My husband wanted NO ALCOHOL beer because he is allergic to alcohol. The NO ALCOHOL beer on the menu said 0.0% alcohol. What arrived was what the waitress said was NO ALCOHOL but it actually was 0.5% alcohol. We sent it back, and I did tell the waitress the menu was incorrect and that she should mention it to management, but she did not seem interested in doing anything about it.”
“Large room with all the basics. Old building but clean . Street noise could be heard.
Good location/ easy to walk to from train and to get around.
Staff were were efficient.”
“Great location for Scarborough Open Air shows. Lovely room and a great breakfast. The bar was lively with a karaoke so don't plan on going to bed early. Will definitely stay again thanks”
“Lovely receptionist - Scott. Was really friendly and talkative, recommended lots of places to eat/go to. For the price that it's at, you won't top it. Beautiful sea view and suitable facilities.”
“The property could benefit from some exterior TLC but inside was spotless. We stayed in the annexe and it was lovely. Clean and well appointed. The staff were so helpful and friendly.”
“The Royal is a very quirky old building so you have to expect a certain amount of oddness about the place. It is annoying cash only, this always bugs me as I like the choice. We didn’t make it into the pool area as it was full to capacity(very small pool are).
If the girl who runs the pool deck is needed skewered they simply lock it up.
The hotel seemed under staffed but most of them were helpful,
Brittania hotels( the worst in the country 10 yrs running) are not investing any substantial...
“My second stay in as many weeks. Room was a good size, bed was really comfortable. Greeted by a friendly bloke on reception who gave me my key. Good supply of tea, coffee, sugar and milk sachets in the room. Brilliant location for the cricket ground as well asbthebtown centre. All in all good, can't fault it with the competive prices”
“Looked a bit old fashioned but loved to stay here as I rather prefer family run independent hotel than big chain hotels. Breakfast was also great and more than others, members of their staff were incredibly helpful.”
