The Lord Nelson Hotel

"Nice clean room, not too badly priced relative to others in the area, and nicely situated for where we were visiting. The parking is limited, but we managed. Only real negative was the room temperature and lack of extractor in the bathroom that would pull air through and take moisture/heat away. Room was roasting hot, and with a big window that let in lots of sunlight with just a small opening at the top which we couldn't open very far. The small window opening combined with no extractor in the bathroom meant we soon turned the hot room into a steam sauna. Would visit again, but maybe not the height of summer."

"The accommodation was fine and clean. The staff (when they are present on site), are very friendly. The system of getting access and getting the key after 16:00 hrs is little bit... different than what I experienced in the past (sorry, but not all travellers must be familiar with all styles of "remotely checking in"). I was a little bit disappointed about the fact that in the advert I understood that I could get a bathtub , while in fact I got just shower (sorry, as you can guess, I am a bathing person..., yes, you are very right, nobody is perfect... especially not me)."

"The room was clean and tidy Beds comfy Good views My only problem was the reception wasn’t manned and no one answered the bell, had to go to garage and ask for someone to check us in, slow not ideal we still had to phone someone but when the turned up she was very friendly and polite "

"The first thing to say is that this guest house is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, all of the bedrooms are on the upper floors and there is no lift. I only mention this because it was a problem for us although the management did their best to accommodate us once we made them aware. The room we were given was small and there was very little storage space. However the best was made of the space. There was a kettle and hospitality tray with various teas etc. It was hot and a fan was provided, which helped a lot. There was a brilliant shower and bathroom. Car parking: There is on street parking in front of the hotel and there were plenty of spaces when we arrived. There is more secure parking to the rear of the hotel. The breakfast provided is excellent. There are cereals, juices, yoghurts, pastries and crumpets to name a few to start. After that lot, you can have a full cooked breakfast as well. Superb value! Unfortunately we cannot return due to my wife's disability but I would thoroughly recommend this traditional guesthouse to anyone."

The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome with their warm and attentive service. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious breakfast prepared with fresh, high-quality local ingredients. To top it off, the spa treatment was deeply relaxing and the perfect way to unwind. An incredible historic getaway with top-notch hospitality—we cannot wait to return!"
