Beautiful property, a prime example of a timber framed building that majestically shows its age. The amenities are modernized to todays standard and the staff are helpful and informative
Very comfortable and clean room and the pub is friendly and busy with a decent pub menu and nice atmosphere. The area is quite busy and a bit noisy but otherwise a very nice stay.
Our stay didnโt start too well, we had booked 2 rooms 6 weeks prior to our stay, one room for two adults and one room for two adults and a child.
When we checked in we were given two rooms both with one double bed and no bed for the child.
Luckily they had one room left which was big enough to accommodate two adults and child.
The staff were very good and attentive.
The room we had was very compact with peeling wallpaper hanging from one of the walls and dimly lit which is great if you just want ambient lighting but with no light by the bedside it was very awkward to read in bed.
Bathroom was very nice with a lovely shower although the toilet flush handle was
broken.
Tea and coffee making facilities were great.
The only other negative was the constant drone of what sounded like an extraction fan going all night.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel as I would not return.
I booked this as an anniversary treat and specifically asked for a nice room and a romantic table for dinner. There was no one to greet us at reception. Bar staff were rude and not helpful. Our room was quirky but right above the noisy bar which just got noisier as the night went on. The tv had no internet connection which we made the staff aware of - they did nothing ti resolve it. When we arrived for dinner the restaurant was almost empty and our romantic table was slap bang in a walkway. We asked to move to another. No candles were lit and the waitress took our menus away before weโd even ordered. We both had steak and mine was so fatty I could not eat it. The bed was the noisiest creaky bed Iโve ever come across. Would never recommend
