This is the fourth time I have stayed at the Royal. As a solo traveller (on this occasion), I felt very safe and comfortable in the hotel and local area and all of the staff members I encountered were pleasant and helpful. I was allocated an accessible room (not requested) which was spacious and clean with a large wet room style bathroom. The water pooled on the floor following a shower but it was carefully dried by cleaning staff members on a daily basis and towels were in plentiful supply. Food and drinks in the hotel are reasonably priced with daily meal specials and "happy hour" drinks discounts. The bars are lively but not too rowdy, used by a mix of people including families. Near to the hotel are large supermarkets and a great variety of places to eat. The location is ideal for the eastern suburbs gorgeous beaches (Coogee is a 15 minute walk) and there are also frequent buses. The light rail is very close by, so getting into Sydney's CBD and to Circular Quay is quick and easy. The hotel is also easily reached from the airport's international terminal via two buses (420 to Mascot, change bus for 358 to Randwick) . The hotel will continue to be my first "go to" place whenever I am in Sydney.
