“A beautiful, historic castle outside Edinburgh. Room was very nice--bed comfortable, bathroom clean and roomy enough. Restaurant in the basement is a "must do." Steaks are cooked over a wood fire. Food was superb. Only negative was that I learned if you don't book directly with Melville Castle then breakfast is not included. I used a Expedia to book, so no breakfast included, which didn't seem right given the room prices. Overall a great experience. My wife and I would like to return sometime.”

“I have visited over 170 countries. This castle is in my top two or three most wonderful places I have ever visited. The castle is amazing but the main reason i loved this place so much is because the staff were beyond perfect. They made our stay something I will never forget. The food and wine could not have been more amazing. The live piano played at dinner was priceless. I will fondly remember this place for the rest of my life.”

“This is most certainly not a 4-star hotel, as Expedia suggests, and it certainly isn;t worth £100 per night. £50 would be overpriced! The rooms are tiny; the TV is about the size of an iPad and doesn't work anyway; there is no bar or restaurant, except for stale bread and mouldy fruit for breakfast; the towels were old and frayed at the ends. I could go on. The property has huge potential, but it doesn't appear that any maintenance has been carried out for years. I would recommend looking...
