Great stay and a very quiet and relaxed upscale property. Staff knew who we were before we arrived and were ready a willing to assist to ensure any specific wants or needs were met. The surrounding forest and lake were large and completely open for exploring. Rooms are huge and incredibly well appointed. Food is 5 star for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My husband and I stayed at The Chatwal Lodge (about two hours from NYC) and it’s easily one of the best resorts we’ve been to. It feels incredibly private and secluded—it seemed like there were only ~20 guests on property—so the whole experience was calm and special.
We booked the Treehouse, which was awesome: modern, spotless, and beautifully designed with a great vibe. Since it’s all-inclusive, we didn’t have to worry about extra charges, which made it truly relaxing. The non-alcoholic welcome “champagne” was a great touch and actually tasted really good.
The food was outstanding with plenty of options—honestly Michelin-star level in quality. The warm ciabatta bread at dinner was so fresh and tasty.
There are also lots of activities. I attended yoga, a sound bath, and Pilates—everything was well run and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Walking around in nature was a perfect reset. The staff were consistently warm and welcoming. At night, the firepits/bonfire felt amazing. One small improvement: the s’mores kit was a bit stale, so upgrading the freshness would make it better.
Two suggestions: consider moving the sound bath to the afternoon (it fits the “drift off” vibe and would spread activities out), and provide a printed activity schedule + locations for easy reference. Highly recommend overall.
The Chatwal is rustic in an elegant beautiful way. The Timberline Suite was beyond our expectations and was luxurious in all ways. Food was excellent. Service relaxed.
Unfortunately there is a problem with the water level in the lake. I am glad they are going to put in a pool, so there is another water area. Recreation Lodge was fun. Very close to bethel Woodstock Museum. That was great.
I booked The Chatwal Lodge for my fiancé's birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience. The property, from the stunning grounds to the beautifully rooms and the lodge itself, was absolutely breathtaking. I've never felt more at peace. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Trinity took care of us for most of our stay and was incredibly kind. Megan’s cocktail-making class was a highlight—so much fun. Ruben and Sonia, who drove us to our lodge and activities, were wonderful as well.
The reason for my 4-star rating, and I offer this as constructive feedback, is the food. We’re big foodies and have visited other all-inclusive resorts like Blackberry Farm, and the culinary experience at The Chatwal Lodge didn’t quite measure up. Being so close to New York City, with access to top chefs and local farms, there’s a lot of potential to elevate the dining experience. If the food had matched the level of everything else, this would have easily been a 5-star review.
