Great property and the staff is amazing. Treats you like royalty. Breakfast is amazing a wide variety of choices: everything is available at the buffet. However dinner needs improvement. You need a reservation otherwise you will not be admitted if its a busy night. No buffet dinner. The beach restaurant (Lola Beach) is hit or miss I didn't like the food especially the Argentina barbecue. The other two restaurant Tempest and Capri is just OK for me. The night Capri was closed guest waited for up to one hour to be admitted others were turned back. That's awful for an all inclusive. You know the number of guest checked in and food not available for all shows improper planning or worse a total disregard to your guests dietary or gastronomical desires. No dinner buffet is offered. The club lounge offer a variety of snacks/ appetizers with various choices of drinks. So there is that. Outside dinner options on a fly is not convenient since the hotel is set back about a mile from the main gate which is located on a highway/ freeway. No food establishments close by. The spa and staff, especially my maseuse, was awesome, I would definitely go again. After my massage my back felt amazing. The rooms were clean and well maintained with a fully stocked minibar/snacks. The entertainment at night was ok a bit short and early. The Chiello player on Monday night was so talented and the music was very relaxing. The beach was plagued by sea weed making the water dirty but usable.

We stayed for 9 nights and there was not a day without some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. The staff is very very polite and friendly, but they lack professionalism and training. Some servers in the restaurants don’t speak very good English, so that can be an area of improvement. The overall impression is that the whole operation is out of tune. Strong management and review of all aspects of operations is recommended. Alila is not on par with the rest of the Mayakoba hotels.

Picture and description of rooms we booked are not the ones we received. Even after we showed proof. They did let us upgrade the last two nights, but there was at an extra expense. Upgraded into the rooms that we thought we originally booked on the newer side. The food and staff were good and helpful. Nice that only one restaurant required reservation. It made it more flexible for last-minute decisions to eat. Beach was disgusting and full of seaweed, but that was not the resort’s fault. Hotels.com concierge was to have our transportation from airport to the hotel reserved for us. That also did not happen as transport service did not have an order number for us. I showed them the email from Hotels.com, but that was not good enough. I will not stay here again.

Best husband/wife vacation we have ever had. Don't expect too much of a party atmosphere, but if relaxation is what you need this is the place.
