The door staff/ concierge , recept staff and house keeping were excellent. Really nice and friendly. We stayed 5 days at the hotel in a one bedroom suite with the executive lounge access which was very good. We liked the swimming pool and facilities. The breakfast was ok. Main complaint needing each day to ask for mugs for coffee, bowls for yogurt, glasses for juices and water as no one restocked these at those stations. The soup dumplings were excellent but western breakfast not much flavor. The suite was very nicely appointed but the electric outlets were terrible. My daughter and her husband had a different room and had the same issue with sockets - plugs hard to insert and kept falling out. However overall we had a great visit and would certainly return to this hotel when we return to Beijing in 6 months time. There is a Starbucks in reception area and the Chinese restaurant - we had Beijing duck with friends one night - was excellent. We had been staying at different hotels across China for three weeks - Banyan Tree in Shangri La, intercontinental in Kunming, Indigo Hotel (Intercontinental in Lijiang) and hotels in Guangzhou, Furong and Zhangjiajie.

Enjoyed my 7 day stay

Overall a very good experience. Room was nice if a little dated. Very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Aircon worked but just barely. Onsite restaurant was good. Breakfast buffet was very good. Location is rather far from most tourist attractions.

The hotel location is impeccable. Room was clean, although furniture is dated and a bit worn. Check-in experience was not great; waited in a line of 3 people for more than 30 minutes and not sure what the hold-up was. Breakfast choices were amazing. Overall a great experience.

Area is near the embassies so it’s extremely safe with lots of things around that cater to foreigners. Maid service and staff are quite helpful, maid even folded my clothes which was a nice touch. Starbucks in the hotel is convenient although it opens at 930am. Only thing I don’t like is the room is a little dated with carpet instead of laminate. At least they have plugs everywhere and the plugs accommodate American plugs.

Very nice hotel, just needs a makeover here and there. The carpeting in the rooms is old and discoloured, so it looks kinda dirty even if it’s clean. Plus, the carpeting is a dark burgundy, so if you arrive at night, the room gives you a bit of a dingy impression. In daylight it looks much nicer. The hallways have the same problem: dark carpeting and extremely dimly lit, so when you walk from the elevator to your room, it has this vidbe of a sleazy hotel. But at the end of the day, the rooms are nice, the beds are nice and clean (not a fan of those super soft mattresses though), the bathroom is really nice and comfortable, and the wall-to-wall windows offer a great view. The gym is a real gym and has the right equipment for a good workout. The pool is large enough to swim for sports. They didn’t offer room service and they give no explanation why (they just write “temporarily unavailable”). Not terrible, but if there advertise services that in reality they do not offer, I question whether the star-rating is warranted.

2/10 Terrible

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
I was quite disappointed with my two-night stay. There were several basic issues that made the experience much more frustrating than it should have been. First, very little and in most cases no English was spoken by the staff. I do not expect everyone to speak fluent English, but for an international hotel, I expected better communication and preparation for international guests. Second, the hotel has a currency exchange machine, which I specifically planned to use instead of exchanging money at the airport. Unfortunately, it was not working when I arrived. That was a disaster for me as I did not even have money to pay to the taxi that drove me to the hotel. Most importantly, the toilet in my room clogged after the very first use. This was inconvenient and, frankly, something I should not have had to deal with. Overall, I left disappointed. These are basic services, and I expected better from a Marriott property, particularly one that welcomes international travelers.
