"The hotel itself was clean and overall acceptable.
However, stay away from the Gatsby Restaurant.
The food quality was extremely poor and concerning. The soup and chicken both tasted old and acidic, as if they had been prepared days in advance and improperly stored. The mashed potatoes were clearly sour, which should never happen with fresh food.
When we raised this with the server (blonde waitress), her response was rude and dismissive. Instead of addressing the issue, she became defensive and told us we “don’t know what we are talking about.”
For context, we own multiple restaurants in New York and are very familiar with proper food standards. Sour potatoes and acidic soup are clear signs of improper storage or spoilage.
The chicken leg had an unpleasant smell and dark discoloration, which was also concerning. Each issue we pointed out was dismissed with explanations like “this is how food is in Italy,” which is simply not true.
To make matters worse, the restaurant was completely empty, yet we were still asked if we had a reservation.
We ended up paying cash and leaving without finishing our meal. Also, despite Expedia Platinum benefits, no discount was applied.
Overall: the hotel is fine, but the restaurant experience was unacceptable and should be avoided."
