“Everything was great! Bed could have been better.. we had a king that sunk in the middle. Definitely needs to be updated with a fresh coat of paint. The bar was beautiful and the bartender was very helpful in planning what to do in the area. We would go back for sure! Absolutely beautiful scenery.”

“Once upon a time I am sure this place was really nice. We stayed for a golf event, otherwise I would not stay here. We stayed in the executive suite area. The room was outdated and the pullout couch was very worn, torn, broken and uncomfortable. Our smoke alarm battery was old, so it was beeping. The buildings in general could use some upkeep. “I will start with the positive. We got massages and the spa was nice. The massages were good. The steakhouse was wonderful and the manager there, the waitress and the staff throughout Oglebay were really good. Now for the not so good: We were there for our 40th anniversary, which they had in their system, but we were given a room in one of the lodge wings that only had a view of the wall belonging to the next building of rooms. “It was adequate for a night ; I wouldn't suggest staying any longer than that. The mattresses seemed to be new but were very hard, not good for side sleepers. It is in the process of renovation but has a lot of work still needed, particularly the bathroom. The pool was also out of order. Eat somewhere else. The bar was understaffed with only a single worker acting as both bartender and waiter. Management just stood there givng the poor guy a nasty look without help or direction. Food tasted...

“I liked that this property was quiet and the employees at the service desk were very kind and helpful. They had a nice workout room. The pool area was very hot. The pool itself was very slippery with many hairs in the water. It didn’t feel very clean. The hot tub was out of order when we went. ”

“I selected here because of close to Timberline Ski Resort during last ski season. In peak season it needs to book ahead of a month. Room was small, but super friendly staff and comfortable bed, clean room. Best one is good room rates if booking available in Canaan Valley. Recommend strongly!”

“The breakfast was very good 👍👍. There is a large mowed yard out front to walk the 4 legged members of the family. The area is very quiet with a Marathon fuel mart across the street. There is a new Burger King adjacent to the Marathon station. We ordered our supper from the Burger King and they delivered it promptly.”
