Where do I start. The history of the hotel, the design, the atmosphere, the ghost stories, the staff, the local people, the amazing food and whiskey…it was such a great experience and fun stay. Highly recommend.
We had a great stay here, only stayed one night. But upon arrival and seeing our room, wished we would have booked more nights. Both because the hotel was excellent and there was so much to see and hike around to in the area.
Great place to stay , room 24 was lovely. Breakfast was delicious. , lots of choice. We also had supper in the hotel Fish n Chip were yummy !
Definitely recommend and hope to go back on our next trip to Scotland.
Myself and my husband stayed over for the night. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Bar had a great atmosphere, dinner was spot on and the live music was excellent. Would definitely return.
Also dog friendly and I love that!
Cozy, quiet, clean, and quaint. Restaurant was really good, and the attached pub was even better. Amazing menu of whisky to choose from. We loved our stay
We had a lovely night's stay in the George Hotel. We stayed in the Library Suite which was treat. Very spacious, cosy furnishings, hot tub and candles. We booked in advance for dinner which is recommended as it is popular. The food was fabulous and restaurant staff were great. We then went through to the bar where there was a live singer on a Friday night. Again, great atmosphere. The bar was open til 1am which felt like a proper night out.
We really enjoyed breakfast the next morning too. Would definitely recomment the George Hotel to others and would return ourselves!
While in Inverary we spent an interesting 90 mins or so doing the jail tour and had a look around some of the lovely gift/craft shops.
Great old hotel. Good food and bar. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was great. We ate dinner at the hotel both nights that we stayed. The room was large and very comfortable. No issues. It was the best hotel we stayed at on our two week tour of Scotland.
The place is adorable and charming. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The only complaint is that the bed was not very comfortable... maybe an old mattress? Quite lumpy and saggy.
We loved our stay. Our room was so wonderful. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both meals were outstanding. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is convenient to all the shops and the castle. We have already talked about our next trip to The George and staying longer.
The location in on the historic high street can’t be beaten and it’s ideal for looking around the town, the staff gave us a warm reception on arrival and the room and bathroom was well appointed and comfortable. We had a few issues namely there seemed to be staff accommodation above us and we were kept awake by Banging and crashing all night until the sound of an empty bottle falling over things went quiet around 3:30am. The service in the restaurant needs a little more attention with our drinks arriving well into the meal, the food was fine but not outstanding, my plate so small they had to pile everything in a tower to get it on, breakfast service again was rather lacklustre. I would stay again but perhaps try elsewhere for food. The hotel seems to be dog friendly as we heard next doors animal barking all evening until the owners returned from the bar late on.
Although pets welcome the owners seem to think it’s ok to have pets in dining areas and sitting on owners laps while eating.
No space in room to unpack or have storage for clothes. No shelves in bathroom for toiletries. I don’t know why this hotel has a 3 or 4 star rating. Two star at the most. It’s so old William Wallace was the last person to stay in my room.
Don’t stay here unless it’s a one night stand.
We visited for an overnight stay with our Golden Retriever (who was welcome everywhere within the hotel). We requested a specific item not on the evening menu which was provided without any issue. The "Merchant" suite is a true one-off with great oldy world charm. Would happily recommend to anyone for a visit (with or without your canine companion)
Exceptionally clean, comfortable and efficiently run hotel. The staff were very friendly and happy and…. I’ve never stayed in such a dog friendly establishment. Wovderful!
