"Nicely decorated Superior King room but on arrival it was quite chilly. There was a draught coming from the sash window and also some road noise - which I hate because I’m a light sleeper, and I’m very surprised there is no secondary glazing to stop the draught and reduce the road noise. The bathroom was nicely decorated but the tiled floor was cold underfoot - many high end hotels have underfloor heating these days but not here it seems. I did request a room change but I was told there were only ’staff’ rooms available - even though Hotels.com was showing 2 Superior King room available both before and after I’d asked !!! The breakfast room is very stylish and offered a typical choice of food. Lovely hotel but having had a recent makeover it lacked some attention to detail. I enjoyed my previous stay here, a couple of years ago, a lot more."

"It's within 10 minute walking distance to centre of town. There is an ok but overpriced Indian restaurant, but setting for food. Big Sainsbury's nearby. Property is standard HI Express, clean, ok breakfast. Only real criticism is having stayed at HI Express a lot over the past 5 months in different places for work, would be good if they could vary the breakfast a bit."

"Clean rooms and it’s in city centre it’s so close to everything you’d need. Staff were so lovely "

"The room was furnished and decorated well, although the window had some mould due to its age (presume difficult to solve in a listed building). The staff were friendly although they’re shared between the pub and the hotel so you may need to wait a little while. We had some issues with the shower, the tap handle was nearly impossible to turn so couldn’t adjust the temperature. Overall, I’d say it’s a great location and nice hotel although full price might be difficult to stomach."
